Short- handed Cowboys no match for Brady, Pats
Tom Brady threw for two touchdowns and plunged in from a yard out for another score, and the visiting New England Patriots handed the undermanned Dallas Cowboys their third consecutive loss with a 30- 6 victory Sunday.
The result enabled Brady to join Peyton Manning and Fran Tarkenton as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to guide their teams to at least four 4- 0 starts.
The Cowboys ( 2- 3) were punchless offensively, managing only 264 yards. They again were without quarterback Tony Romo ( broken collarbone) and receiver Dez Bryant ( broken foot), and backup quarterback Brandon Weeden lost for the 11th consecutive time as a starter.
Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy returned from a seasonopening four- game suspension stemming from a domestic- violence incident and had two sacks.
Falcons 25, Redskins 19
Robert Alford returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown on the first possession of overtime to lift the host Atlanta Falcons ( 5- 0) past the Washington Redskins ( 2- 3).
The Redskins had the first possession of the extra period, and Kirk Cousins moved them to midfield. But when receiver Ryan Grant slipped on a route, Alford caught Cousins’ pass and was left with open field down the Falcons’ sideline for the touchdown.
Devonta Freeman ran for 153 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons. Dustin Hopkins made a 52- yard field goal on the last play of regulation to help the Redskins force overtime.
Broncos 16, Raiders 10
Chris Harris Jr. returned an interception 74 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and the visiting Denver Broncos ( 5- 0) overcame another shaky performance by Peyton Manning to slip past the Oakland Raiders ( 2- 3) and stay unbeaten.
Manning was intercepted twice by 1998 draft classmate Charles Woodson and failed to lead the Broncos to an offensive touchdown for the second time this season.
Cardinals 42, Lions 17
Carson Palmer threw three touchdown passes before sitting out the fourth quarter, and the visiting Arizona Cardinals ( 4- 1) intercepted Matthew Stafford three times before he was benched in a rout of the host Detroit Lions ( 0- 5).
Stafford was replaced by Dan Orlovsky, who also threw an interception, late in the third quarter. The two combined to throw an NFL- record 70 passes in a regulation game.
Giants 30, 49ers 27
Eli Manning capped a 41- for- 54, 441- yard, three- touchdown performance with a 12- yard scoring pass to Larry Donnell with 21 seconds left to boost the New York Giants ( 3- 2) past the visiting San Francisco 49ers ( 1- 4) for their third victory in a row.
Colin Kaepernick passed for 262 yards and two touchdowns for the 49ers, who had taken a 27- 23 lead on a two- yard touchdown run by Carlos Hyde with 1: 45 left.
Browns 33, Ravens 30
Josh McCown threw for a teamrecord 457 yards and two touchdowns, and Travis Coons kicked a 32- yard field goal in overtime to give the Cleveland Browns ( 2- 3) a come- from- behind victory against the host Baltimore Ravens ( 1- 4).
McCown broke the old team record of 444 yards passing set by Brian Sipe in 1981.
