Trump to make first Illinois campaign visit
WASHINGTON — GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump headlines a rally in Springfield next Monday night, his first major campaign event in Illinois and on the eve of another Republican debate in Milwaukee.
The Trump event will be at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, not far from the state Capitol. While many of Trump’s GOP 2016 rivals have flowed through Chicago and its suburbs for fundraising, Trump, whose campaign is largely selffunded, has mainly focused on the early-voting states.
Trump comes to Illinois as the window is open for would-be delegates to the presidential nominating conventions to circulate petitions to get on the March Illinois primary.
The Milwaukee debate Nov. 10 is hosted by FOX Business News and the Wall Street Journal and will include an undercard debate for the contenders trailing in the polls. The top card moderators will be FBN anchors Maria Bartiromo and Neil Cavuto and Journal editorin-chief Gerard Baker.
