Baylor holds off pesky K-State
Jarrett Stidham threw for 419 yards and three scores in his first start, Corey Coleman caught a pair of touchdown passes and No. 2 Baylor held on for a 31-24 victory over pesky Kansas State on Thursday night to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Stidham, taking over for the injured Seth Russell, also ran for a touchdown to help the Bears (5-0 Big 12, No. 6 CFP) improve to 8-0 for only the second time in school history.
Miss. State 31, Missouri 13
Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes, and No. 24 Mississippi State got 100-yard receiving games from De’Runnya Wilson and Fred Ross in a rain-soaked 31-13 victory over Missouri.
The Bulldogs kicked it into gear after a heavy downpour stopped at halftime, turning a one-point game into a runaway with a 17-point third quarter that included two of Prescott’s TD throws.
Report: Hazell staying at Purdue
Despite the lowest winning percentage in school history, Darrell Hazell will be brought back as coach of the Purdue Boilermakers for a fourth season, a source told ESPN.
Hazell’s future had been in doubt because of his overall record of 6-26. Last week’s upset of Nebraska was only the Boilermakers’ second win in 20 Big Ten games under Hazell.
Miami: More errors vs. Duke
Miami said it was told by the Atlantic Coast Conference that “multiple incorrect calls” went against the Hurricanes in last weekend’s win over Duke, including a late pass-interference call on the drive where the Blue Devils scored a go-ahead touchdown. The Hurricanes sent those sentiments to season-ticket holders and donors in a letter.
