Funeral Services were held at Progressiv­e Funeral Parlor, 7208 S. Stony Island on February 26, 2016 for Chicago State University math lecturer, Professor Lorenzo R. Wilson, Sr.

Mr. Wilson died eighteen days after officially retiring from CSU where he worked for over 23 years. Lorenzo attended St. Phillip Catholic School and public schools, graduating from Wells High School. He attended Crane and Loop Jr colleges. He enrolled with CSU as a Math major, completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with a 3.5 academic average. Lorenzo enlisted in the Air Force where he served as a "SP" Security Forces. He was assigned to the 509th Bomb Group stationed in Roswell, New Mexico and Brize Norton A.F.B. in England during the Korean War. He was an avid lover of music and swimming. He played the trumpet and the bongos. He worked with several major agencies, including Internal Revenue and IBM.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife of sixty years, Jewel; his children, Debra Wilson, Lorenzo Wilson Jr., Angela Monroe, Carl Monroe, Pamela Wilson, Patricia Berry, Renee Wilson, Anthony Wilson, Ronald Wilson, Rebecca Berry, Cheryl Wilson-Woodhouse and Earnest Woodhouse; grandchild­ren, Lamarr, Casper, Lorenzo III, Rhoda, Keith, David, Steven, Jewel, Michael, Anthony Jr., Jashema, Anthony, Jessica, Nickie, Ronecia, Ashley, Montrel and Jarrelle and a host of great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is entombed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
