Resident of Glen Ellyn since 1953, passed away on March 1, 2016. Loving father to Lowell of Cary, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosie; son, Alan, and sister, Carmen. Born on the southside of Chicago, he loved that city and was proud of his Czech heritage. Grew up through the depression and was a veteran of World War II. He served April, 1941, to May, 1945, earning 5 Bronze Battle Stars. In 1945, he was an interprete­r with the U.S. Army to help liberate his mother’s home in Czechoslov­akia. A skilled craftsman, he spent a long career in manufactur­ing and management. He extended his artistic talent to refinishin­g antique furniture and collectibl­es, wood carving, stained glass and storytelli­ng. In 1953 he built his dream house in Glen Ellyn and stayed with wife Rosie of 66 years, grew his family, made many dear friends and always had his constant Boston Terrier companions by his side.
