DRONE STRIKE CASUALTY NUMBERS TO BE RELEASED
The White House will begin releasing annual figures on people killed in U. S. drone strikes in an effort to dispel what it says is misinformation on civilian casualties.
President Obama’s homeland security adviser, Lisa Monaco, announced the new policy Monday at a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations.
“We know that not only is greater transparency the right thing to do, it is the best way tomaintain the legitimacy of our counterterrorism actions and the broad support of our allies,” she said.
The first numbers will be released in a few weeks.
