Oswego E., Loyola likely to put up points

Oswego East quarterback Jaylon Banks was lights- out in a 54- 14 victory against Curie in the first round of the playoffs. The Wolves also have a big- time weapon in Iowa- bound running back Ivory Kelly- Martin. Loyola tight end Jake Marwede, a Duke recruit, has been an impact player, and quarterback Tommy Herion is coming into his own. This matchup should pack plenty of offensive firepower.

In one of the best matchups of the playoffs, offensively explosive Homewood- Flossmoor takes on perennial defensive powerhouse Glenbard West. The undefeated Vikings will look to quarterback Bryant Wright and NIU- bound receiver Tyrice Richie for another spark after they combined for five touchdowns in a first- round victory against Evanston. The defending Class 7A champion Hilltoppers, who needed a last- second field goal to beat Neuqua Valley in the first round, feature a strong group of seniors and a promising junior in running back Cameron Raupach.
No. 3 Palatine ( 10- 0) at No. 13 Lyons ( 8- 2), 7p. m. Saturday
Undefeated Palatine made a statement in its first- round victory against Notre Dame, and Lyons did the same with a last- second victory against Naperville North. Highly recruited Lions quarterback Ben Bryant has been one to watch all season. Pirates quarterback Zach Oles suffered a collarbone injury against Notre Dame, but Palatine’s defense stepped up and showed it is a force to be reckoned with.
No. 4 Prairie Ridge ( 10- 0) at Montini ( 7- 3), 1 p. m. Saturday
Both teams are riding momentum. Montini lost three of its first four games before reeling off six victories in a row. Running back PrinceWalker, aWestern Michigan recruit, was injured formuch of the season but is back. Prairie Ridge used an impressive defensive effort to dominate Deerfield in the first round. These teams met in the semifinals last season, with Montini earning a 35- 27 victory.
No. 10 Barrington ( 9- 1) atNo. 25MaineSouth( 7- 3), 1 p. m. Saturday
Barrington beat Maine South 41- 27 in Week 3, but the Hawks have come on strong as the season has progressed and beat West Aurora 42- 40 in the first round last week. Maine South’s offense has improved all the season behind quarterback Nick Leongas. The Broncos have been solid from the start and boast one of the strongest offensive lines in the area.
