Fisher making more trouble for himself

- MARK POTASH

NTime: Noon. Line: Patriots by 13 ½ . Total: 44 ½ . Records ( overall/ ATS): Rams 4- 7/ 4- 5- 2; Patriots 9- 2/ 8- 3. ow comes the easy part for Jeff Fisher — facing Bill Belichick and the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

Not an easy task, obviously, but it has been that kind of week for the Rams’ coach, who has been dealing with two distractions with he and his team already feeling the heat from a disappointing season.

It started with a dispute with Rams great Eric Dickerson, a Hall of Famer who said he won’t attend another Rams game as long as Fisher is the coach. Fisher had told Dickerson he shouldn’t — or couldn’t — criticize the Rams on his radio show and then ask for passes to the next game for his friends.

His week didn’t get any better when he seemingly referred to Danny Woodhead as one of the Patriots’ offensive threats during a conference call with Boston- area reporters. Woodhead not only is on injured reserve, but he last played for the Patriots in 2012.

The Rams said Fisher was referring to wide receiver Danny Amendola ( even though the question was about running backs). Either way, it was a gaffe that’s going to stick with Fisher.

It has been that kind of year for Fisher, who has been chided all season for his declaration on “Hard Knocks” that he won’t settle for being 7- 9 or 8- 8 or 9- 7 or even 10- 6. “This team’s better than that,” he said.

If it is, then Fisher’s rant is quite a self- indictment. The Rams are 4- 7 with games against the Patriots, Falcons and Seahawks coming up. Even improving rookie Jared Goff might not be enough to salvage this season — or Fisher’s job.”

Pick: Patriots 31, Rams 9.
