PREDICTIONS
RICK MORRISSEY
49ers, 17- 16 The 49ers are terrible. We know this. But that doesn’t suddenly make the Bears good. Too much bad energy, too many injuries, too few reasons to think they’ll win this game. And a loss puts them in position to get the second overall pick in next year’s draft. Rah. Season: 7- 4.
RICK TELANDER
Bears, 26- 24 Yes, there will be a winner in this game, although that winner will also be the loser. A tie would be appropriate. Or a double forfeit. The biggest attraction will be Colin Kaepernick’s postgame interview about Fidel Castro. Season: 3- 8.
ADAM L. JAHNS
Bears, 24- 20 I don’t like the idea of having Nick Kwiatkoski and John Timu chase around Kaepernick. But defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will have a plan in place for the 49ers quarterback. Matt Barkley should have some success against the 49ers’ defense, which ranks last in the NFL. Season: 6- 5.
PATRICK FINLEY
Bears, 21- 20 Barkley’s solid fourth- quarter effort Sunday gives the Bears some momentum. More importantly, though, the 49ers’ defense has allowed these point totals in the last seven games: 33, 45, 34, 41, 23, 30 and 31. Season: 7- 4.
MARK POTASH
49ers, 31- 27 To their credit, the Bears aren’t giving up. Barkley gives them a chance to win. But while the 49ers are vulnerable, they’ve also been more competitive recently. And without Jerrell Freeman and Danny Trevathan, the Bears’ defense could be pressed to defend Kaepernick. Season: 6- 5.
