IT WAS ALWAYS SOMETHING

Despite so much anticipation, Cutler’s eight seasons were filled with tantrums and obstacles

- MARK POTASH

Jay Cutler had his moments — some good, some bad, but most of them memorable and many of them indelible.

Remember when he shoved J’Marcus Webb? Or walked away from Mike Tice on the bench? Or told Mike Martz “[ bleep] you” in the midst of a blowout victory in a nationally televised game?

Regrettably, the most memorable Cutler moments were overblown fits of petulance, but that’s what happens when an era that began with so much anticipation and promise turns out to be such a disappointment. Cutler was 51- 51 as a starter, and the Bears made one playoff appearance in his eight seasons. The one time they reached the NFC Championship Game, Cutler suffered an injury and couldn’t finish and the Bears lost.

Cutler’s culpability for all that is debateable. He was the ultimate star- crossed quarterback who overcame a lot but always seemed to have one obstacle too many in his way — poor protection, mediocre receivers, a bad defense, one new offensive coordinator after another. He didn’t deserve a lot of the crap he got, but other times he was his own worst enemy. Either way, he never found a comfort zone in Chicago. Ultimately, and objectively, that will be the lasting Cutler legacy with the Bears: There was always something.

With that in mind, here are 15 memorable “Jay Cutler Moments” that encapsulate the Cutler era in Chicago:
