Cornell Johnston scored 21 points, including four three- pointers, and handed out nine assists to carry Eastern Illinois to a 90- 76 victory Sunday against UIC at the Pavilion.

Montell Goodwin added 19 points, including four three- pointers, Aboubacar Diallo 14 rebounds and Patrick Muldoon 10 rebounds for the Panthers ( 5- 3). Marcus Ottey scored 16 points and Godfrey Boahen 11 to lead the Flames ( 4- 4), who shot only 39 percent and lost at home for the first time this season.

V. J. Beachem led seven players in double figures with 19 points, and Notre Dame matched its best start under coach Mike Brey with a 107- 53 romp against North Carolina A& T in South Bend, Indiana.

The Irish ( 8- 0) reached triple figures for the first time this season and scored at least 91 points for the third consecutiv­e game. The Aggies ( 1- 7) lost their seventh game in a row after opening their season with a victory.
