Wife of former Governor Richard B. Ogilvie, passed away peacefully at The Clare, Chicago, IL, on Sunday, December 4, 2016. She was 94 years old. Dorothy, born in Carlisle, Pennsylvan­ia in 1922, was the daughter of the late Jesse and Marion ( Myers) Shriver. Dorothy’s family moved to Oak Park, IL when she was around 10 years old. She graduated from Oak Park High School and then took a job as a secretary at an ad agency. Her family later moved to Volo, Illinois. She met her husband, Richard Ogilvie in 1948 and they married in 1950. During her husband’s tenure in office she was noted for her work on the restoratio­n of the Illinois Governor’s Mansion. She was involved with the USO, and was a member of both the Woman’s Athletic Club and Glen View Golf Club for many years. She was particular­ly proud of being a Cubs season ticket holder since 1985 and was delighted when they won the World Series this year.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ogilvie ( Timothy) Simer of Chicago as well as several nieces and nephews. She had three siblings that pre- deceased her, Virginia ( Joseph) Lunde, Jessie Jane ( Harold) Flanigan and Jesse Shriver. Her husband Richard died in 1988.

A memorial reception will be held at The Clare on Monday, December 12, from 3: 00 p. m. to 7: 00 p. m.
