Man charged with pointing gun on I- 290
A West Virginia man has been charged with pointing a gun at another driver in a road rage incident Friday on the Eisenhower Expressway in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village.
State troopers were called at 1: 42 p. m. with reports that the driver of a blue Ford Escape had pointed a handgun at another driver on eastbound I- 290 east of Biesterfield Road, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
Troopers pulled the Escape over on eastbound I- 290 near Thorndale, state police said. The driver, 26- year- old Peter J. Grimson, was taken into custody and a loaded handgun was found in the Escape’s center console.
Grimson, of Morgan Town, West Virginia, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and assault, state police said. He has since been released on bond. Luke Wilusz
Construction worker seriously hurt by falling beam
A construction worker was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood on the North Side.
The 43- year- old man was injured about 12: 55 p. m. when a beam fell at a job site in the 1000 block of North Ashland Avenue and struck him on his body, Chicago Police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

Man charged in fatal Skyway crash dies
A 70- year- old man charged with DUI after he drove the wrong way on the Chicago Skyway in December and caused a fatal crash died on Saturday.
About 9: 40 p. m. Dec. 3, Charlie Gates was driving a Jeep Patriot the wrong way in the inbound lanes of the Skyway near 92nd Street when his SUV struck a Dodge Grand Caravan head- on, according to Chicago Police.
The driver of the Dodge, 55- year- old Mark A. Jacobs, was killed, police said.

Police: Burglars hit Loop businesses dozen times
Police are warning downtown residents after a dozen burglaries that have happened in the Loop since September.
The most recent break- in happened about 2: 30 a. m. on Dec. 29 in the 200 block of West Van Buren, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
In each burglary, one or more people forcibly broke into taverns, restaurants and retail stores through the rear doors or front glass door to steal property, police said.
The suspects were described as 5- foot- 8 to 6- foot, 120- to 210- pound black men with dark complexions between the ages of 20- 52, police said.

Police: Suspected robber shot in Back of the Yards
A man was shot while robbing someone Friday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, according to police.
The 23- year- old showed up at Mercy Hospital about 5: 45 p. m. with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
Investigators think he was wounded when carrying out a robbery about 15 minutes earlier in the 4800 block of South Wolcott, police said.
