Seton Hall throttles DePaul

Desi Rodriguez scored 23 of his 25 points in the first half, including five three- pointers, and Angel Delgado notched his ninth consecutiv­e double- double with 20 points and 12 rebounds to power Seton Hall to an 87- 56 rout Saturday of DePaul in Big East action in Newark, New Jersey.

Rodriguez’s big first half enabled the Pirates ( 12- 3, 2- 1) to open a 41- 31 lead at the break, then they started the second half with a 26- 4 spurt to blow the game open. Seton Hall shot 54 percent and made a seasonhigh 13 three- pointers.

Billy Garrett Jr. scored 22 points on 8- for- 11 shooting for the Blue Demons ( 7- 9, 0- 3), but no other DePaul player scored in double figures, and the rest of the team shot 28 percent ( 12- for- 43).

Loyola 78, Bradley 62

Milton Doyle scored a careerhigh 35 points on 13- for- 17 shooting, including five three- pointers, and grabbed 11 rebounds to fuel the Ramblers ( 12- 5, 2- 2) to a Missouri Valley Conference victory against the Braves ( 7- 10, 2- 2) in Peoria.

Ben Richardson added 17 points, Aundre Jackson 13 points and Donte Ingram 11 points and eight rebounds for Loyola, which shot a blistering 58 percent ( 30- for- 52). Darrell Brown scored 19 points and Nate Kennell 17 for Bradley.

Notre Dame 75, Clemson 70

V. J. Beachem matched his career high with 22 points to carry the No. 23 Irish ( 14- 2, 3- 0) to an Atlantic Coast Conference victory against the Tigers ( 11- 4, 1- 2) in South Bend, Indiana.

Matt Farrell added 15 points, Steve Vasturia 14 points and Bonzie Colson 13 points and 12 rebounds — his conference- leading 10th doubledoub­le — for Notre Dame, which extended its winning streak to five. Jaron Blossomgam­e led Clemson with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Penn State 72, Michigan State 63

Lamar Stevens scored 18 points and Tony Carr 14 to spark the Nit- tany Lions ( 10- 7, 2- 2) to a Big Ten upset of the Spartans ( 11- 6, 3- 1) at the famed Palestra in Philadelph­ia. It was Penn State’s first victory against Michigan State since 2011.

Nick Ward scored 16 points for the Spartans, who made only seven of their 23 three- pointers and trailed virtually the entire game.

Maryland 77, Michigan 70

Justin Jackson and Damonte Dodd each scored 15 points, and the Terrapins ( 14- 2, 2- 1) shot 10- for- 15 from three- point range to slip past the Wolverines ( 11- 5, 1- 2) in Big Ten action in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Moritz Wagner scored 17 points to lead Michigan.

N. Illinois 86, C. Michigan 83

Marin Maric scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and the Huskies ( 9- 6, 1- 1) frittered away most of a 17- point lead with 3: 18 left before holding off the Chippewas ( 10- 5, 0- 2) in a Mid- American Conference game in DeKalb, Illinois.

New Mexico State 78, Chicago State 62

Braxton Huggins scored 27 points, and the Aggies ( 15- 2, 2- 0) earned their 13th consecutiv­e victory by walloping the host Cougars ( 4- 14, 0- 2) in Western Athletic Conference play. Fred Sims Jr. led Chicago State with 26 points.
