Wisconsin drubs cold- shooting Illini

Ethan Happ scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and No. 10 Wisconsin retained a share of first place in the Big Ten with a 57- 43 victory Tuesday against Illinois in Champaign.

Nigel Hayes added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Badgers ( 19- 3, 8- 1), who opened a 16- 2 lead and never trailed despite shooting 40.7 percent. Malcolm Hill and Maverick Morgan each scored 10 points to lead the Illini ( 13- 10, 3- 7), who shot an ugly 27.6 percent.

Georgetown 76, DePaul 73

L. J. Peak scored five points in the final minute, including a go- ahead three- point play, and theHoyas ( 13- 10, 4- 6) slipped past the Blue Demons ( 8- 14, 1- 8) in a Big East battle at Allstate Arena.

Rodney Pryor scored 26 points, Jessie Govan 14 and Peak 13 for Georgetown, which overcame 20 turnovers by shooting 54.5 percent. Billy Garrett Jr. scored 25 points and Eli Cain 19 — 15 in the second half— for DePaul, which lost its fifth game in a row.

Missouri State 82, Loyola 81

Alize Johnson made the tying and go- ahead free throws with five seconds left in overtime to lift the Bears ( 15- 9, 6- 5) past the Ramblers ( 16- 8, 6- 5) in Missouri Valley Conference action in Springfiel­d, Missouri.

Milton Doyle led five players in double figures with 21 points for Loyola, which erased a sevenpoint deficit with 39 seconds left in regulation but had its three- game winning streak broken.

Kentucky 90, Georgia 81

Malik Monk forced overtime with a jumper with eight seconds left, then scored eight of his 37 points in the extra period to carry the No. 8Wildcats ( 18- 4, 8- 1) past the Bulldogs ( 13- 9, 4- 5) in a Southeaste­rn Conference thriller in Lexington, Kentucky.

The game was the last at the mic for Brent Musburger, who announced last week he was retiring from broadcasti­ng.

Maryland 77, Ohio State 71

Justin Jackson scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and the No. 17 Terrapins ( 20- 2, 8- 1) fought off the Buckeyes ( 13- 10, 3- 7) down the stretch to notch a Big Ten victory in Columbus, Ohio.

Iowa 83, Rutgers 63

Jordan Bohannon scored 17 points, and the Hawkeyes ( 13- 10, 5- 5) earned their first true road victory of the season by steamrolli­ng the Scarlet Knights ( 12- 11, 1- 9) in Big Ten play in Piscataway, New Jersey.
