Jets’ GM: ‘ We’re open for business’

-

The Jets are letting teams know that the No. 6 pick— as well as others — in the NFL draft can be theirs. For the right price.

The Jets have seven draft picks, but general manager Mike Maccagnan wouldn’t mind a few more as the team embarks on what can be perceived as a rebuilding year.

“Every draft I’ve been in, I’ve always wanted to acquire more picks,” Maccagnan told reporters Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “I think the one thing for ourselves would be, we would like to move back and acquire more picks in this draft if possible. We’re open for business in every round.

He’d also be perfectly fine staying at No. 6, too.

Maccagnan has been busy the last several days creating nearly $ 46 million in salary- cap space by releasing big- name players with big contracts, such as Darrelle Revis, Brandon Marshall andNick Mangold.

Rams will go retro

The Rams announced they will wear navy blue helmets with white horns and white facemasks as their primary helmet in 2017.

A full uniform change, hinted at since the team relocated to Los Angeles, is in the works but requires a two- year waiting period after a team applies for a change.

The complete new look should coincide with the teams’s new stadium, which opens in 2019.

Running at the combine

LSU running back Leonard Fournette, who surprised scouts by weighing in at 240 pounds, ran the 40- yard dash in 4.51 seconds.

North Carolina’s T. J. Logan had the best time among running backs at 4.37 seconds, followed by Utah’s JoeWilliams ( 4.41) and North Carolina A& T’s Tarik Cohen ( 4.42).

Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey, who disappointed scouts by doing only 10 reps of the bench press ( 225 pounds), ran a 4.48.

This and that

Steelers offensive lineman Ryan Harris, 31, who played 115 games for four teams across nine seasons, including two stints with the Broncos, announced his retirement.

The Eagles won a coin flip with the Colts, giving them the 14th pick in the first round. The Colts will pick 15th.
