13- YEAR- OLD KILLED IN CRASH

A 13- year- old boy died after being struck by a car late Friday in north suburban Vernon Hills, according to Vernon Hills police.

About 9: 55 p. m., the boy was walking north and crossing Townline Road at Milwaukee Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle that was heading west, police said.

The boy, who was from Mundelein, died at 5 a. m. on Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 16- year- old Mundelein boy, was not ticketed, police said. The crash remains under investigation. Luke Wilusz

Deaths of Berwyn man, woman ruled homicides

The deaths of an man and woman found Friday inside their home in the 3100 block of South Oak Park Avenue in west suburban Berwyn have been ruled homicides.

An autopsy Saturday found that Ira L. Moore, 67, died of a gunshot wound to the head, and Tommie J. Moore, 70, died of a gunshot wound to the head and multiple stab wounds, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Jacob Wittich

CPD: Suspected car thieves jumped in Chicago River

Two men suspected of taking off from a stolen SUV late Friday in Ravenswood Manor were arrested after jumping into the North Branch of the Chicago River to escape pursuing officers, according to Chicago Police.

About 11: 15 p. m., officers on patrol saw a stolen vehicle and tried to pull it over. The SUV sped away and crashed into a parked car in the 2800 block of West Leland, and two men inside ran away, police said.

Soon after, officers heard splashing and saw the suspects in the river, police said.

Dive teams from CPD and the Chicago Fire Dept. tracked down the 21- year- old men in the water over an hour later, police said.

Teen shot in Hermosa

A 15- year- old boy was shot in the head Saturday afternoon in the Northwest Side Hermosa neighborhood and was in critical condition.
