Woman, girl shot in Englewood
A woman and a 17- yearold girl were wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
It happened around 4: 15 p. m. when a group of people opened fire in the 6000 block of South Halsted, according to Chicago Police.
Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the girl was in critical condition. The woman’s condition was stabilized. Francesca Gattuso
Man charged with murder near Red Line station
AWest Side man has been charged with fatally shooting a 33- year- old man early Monday near a CTA Red Line station on the South Side.
Fredrick Stewart, 33, faces a felony count of first- degree murder, Chicago Police announced Tuesday.
Stewart is accused of killing Javontay Tolliver during an argument at 2: 39 a. m. Monday in the 200 block ofWest Garfield Boulevard near the Garfield Station on the Red Line, authorities said. Matthew Hendrickson
Schaumburg police: Killer entered through window
Investigators believe Schaumburg resident Tiffany Thrasher’s killer entered her apartment through an unlocked ground- floor window, police said Tuesday.
Early evidence also suggests the 33- year- old woman may have been sexually assaulted, though that determination is contingent on crime lab results, police said.
Thrasher’s body was discovered Sunday in her apartment onClipper Drive by officers responding to a request for a well- being check. 32- year- old man shot, has car stolen in Brighton Park
A 32- year- old man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side by a person who then stole his car.
He was sitting in a white sedan about 4: 55 p. m. that was parked in the 3700 block of South Archer when someone approached and shot him in the chest, Chicago Police said.
The shooter got into the sedan and drove away, police said. The 32- year- old was taken toMount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. Matthew Hendrickson
Armed robber targeting cabdrivers on North Side
Cabdriverswere targeted in five armed robberies Friday and Saturday in the Bucktown, Avondale, Logan Square andWrigleyville neighborhoods on theNorth Side.
Each time, the robber flagged a cabdriver and requested a ride, according to Chicago Police. The robber twice pulled a handgun and once stabbed a driver with a knife. The robberies happened: † 1: 25 a. m. April 14 in the 2000 block ofWestWebster;
† 3 a. m. and 3: 20 a. m. April 14 in the 3500 block of West Melrose;
† 1: 20 a. m. April 15 in the 3700 block of North Clark;
† 4: 15 a. m. April 15 in the 2000 block ofWest Fullerton; and
† 11 p. m. April 15 in the 2600 block of North Kimball.
The robber was described as a Hispanic male, 150- 160 pounds, 5- 7 to 5- 9, cleanshaven, and wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said. Sun-TimesWire
Police: Man andwoman killed in Back of theYards
A man, 25, and woman, 22, were shot to death Tuesday morning in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to Chicago Police.
They were sitting in a dark vehicle in the 5100 block of South Halsted at 8: 17 a. m. when a white vehicle pulled up and two people got out and fired shots, according to police.
