Perry, Alice Carol

73, born February, 1944 in St. Louis, MO, wife, mother, artist, activist and entrepreneur, died suddenly May 9, 2017 in Chicago. She is survived by her husband of forty- seven years, actor Ernest Perry, Jr.; daughters, Alison Kimbrough Perry, Mary Hester Johnson ( Darrell) and Jaisy Redmond Geans; siblings, Gayvelle Redmond, Lorraine Williamson, Wilna Bernice Geans and Wilbur Bryant Redmond Jr. ( Cassandra); special grandson, Davion Benton. Also survived by numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her parents, Wilbur and Jaisy Redmond, and brother, Robert Lee Redmond preceded her in death.

Alice was a devout Christian, she saw potential in everything and everyone, and she will be remembered for her open heart and the door that was never closed to someone needing a meal or a place to stay. Many in her extended family, which included everyone who called her or Ernest friend, remember holidays around the dining room table with gratitude, and countless children were the beneficiaries of her fierce work on local school boards and in the community. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, 1: 00- 3: 00 p. m. at Leaks & Sons Funeral Home, 7838 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL 60619 ( King Chapel).

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate plants. Alice loved potted orchids and tulips.
