Tribe, Clevinger stymie Astros

Mike Clevinger pitched no- hit ball into the seventh inning, and Lonnie Chisenhall homered for the second consecutiv­e day to spark the visiting Cleveland Indians past the Houston Astros 3- 0 on Saturday.

Clevinger ( 2- 1) didn’t allow a hit until Jose Altuve singled to lead off the seventh. He also yielded a leadoff single to Evan Gattis in the eighth before Andrew Miller and Cody Allen finished the combined three- hitter.

Before the game, the Astros put left- hander Dallas Keuchel on the 10- day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck. Keuchel, who is 7- 0 with a 1.84 ERA, said he noticed the problem a day after pitching a season- low five innings Tuesday.

Rays 9, Yankees 5

Corey Dickerson hit two home runs and drove in four runs, and the host Tampa Bay Rays roughed up Masahiro Tanaka ( 5- 3) for six runs and nine hits in three- plus innings in a victory against the New York Yankees. The Rays have won four games in a row.

The game featured three ejections, including that of Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who used his hands to cover the plate with dirt after being tossed for arguing balls and strikes in the fifth.

Rookie Aaron Judge hit his major- league- leading 15th homer for the Yankees.

Tigers 9, Rangers 3

Alex Avila, Miguel Cabrera and J. D. Martinez hit consecutiv­e homers in the first inning, Nicholas Castellano­s added a three- run shot in the third and the Detroit Tigers snapped the visiting Texas Rangers’ 10- game winning streak.

Giants 3, Cardinals 1

Christian Arroyo broke open a scoreless game with a two- run double in the 13th inning, and the San Francisco Giants’ five pitchers combined to strike out 13 and walk none in a rain- delayed victory against the host St. Louis Cardinals.

Mets 7, Angels 5

Jose Reyes had three hits, including the 2,000th of his career, and drove in two runs to pace the New York Mets past the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said lefthander David Price ( strained ligament in left elbow) is scheduled to make one more start for Class AAA Pawtucket before making his season debut.

The Atlanta Braves acquired first baseman Matt Adams from the Cardinals for minor- league infielder Juan Yepez to help fill the void left by the injury to Freddie Freeman ( fractured forearm).

The Los Angeles Dodgers said Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda is in the hospital but didn’t provide any details about his condition.
