EX- EMANUEL CHIEF OF STAFF RESIGNS AS CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CEO
For only the sixth time in its 112- year history, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce will be looking for a new leader after president/ CEO Theresa E. Mintle resigned this week.
Mintle, former chief of staff to Mayor Rahm Emanuel, wrote to the Executive Committee that after nearly four years at the helm, she “felt she accomplished her major goals and wanted to leave the chamber to fresh leadership in a position of strength,” a statement from the chamber said.
She said she was leaving to “pursue new opportunities and challenges.”
Mintle joined the organization in 2013 and helped usher in several successful new programs, including Small Business Chicago, Middle Market Chicago, and Emerging Leaders Chicago, and secured grants to make them work.
Michael Reever, chamber vice president of government relations, will oversee operations until a new president is named.

Police: Man had loaded gun, nunchucks and pot
Kashif A. Bhatti, 33, was arrested after officers found a loaded handgun, cannabis, nunchucks and a skull mask in his vehicle Wednesday night in north suburban Evanston.
At 7: 55 p. m. Wednesday, officers pulled over a vehicle in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue after the driver failed to use a turn signal, police said.
As officers approached the vehicle, they smelled burnt cannabis, and as they spoke with Bhatti, he was shifting around, speaking quickly and his hands were shaking, police said.
A search of the vehicle turned up a plastic bag containing three grams of cannabis, a metal pipe, a set of nunchucks, a ski mask, gloves, two folding knives, a loaded Beretta .40 caliber handgun in a holster, and a plastic Halloween- type skull mask, police said. Jordan Owen
Two women killed in Washington Pk. shooting
Two women were killed in a Washington Park neighborhood shooting Wednesday night on the South Side, police said.
A 32- year- old woman and Juliet Veronica Washington, 41, were driving north about 10: 30 p. m. in the 5400 block of South Wabash when someone in another vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

Man charged with driving drunk with 1- week- old
Bob Demitro, 39, of Berwyn, has been charged with driving drunk on the Indiana Toll Road with five children inside his car, including a 1- week- old baby.
A state trooper pulled the SUV over that Demitro was driving and smelled an “overwhelming odor” of alcohol coming from Demitro, police said. His wife and five children, ranging in age from 1 week to 15 years old, were riding in the SUV.
Demitro had a blood alcohol content of .12 percent, according to police.

Jail inmate charged with attacking deputy
A Cook County Jail inmate, Jason Killingsworth, 22, was charged Thursday with attacking a deputy during the correctional intake process.
About 8: 50 a. m. Wednesday, Killingsworth struck a correctional officer several times as he was being placed in a holding cell in the jail’s intake area, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office
The deputy was taken to an area hospital with “serious, but not life- threatening injuries,” the sheriff’s office said.
