Sale cruises as Bosox beat M’s

-

Chris Sale pitched seven innings of three- hit ball, top prospect Rafael Devers became the youngest Boston player to homer in more than 50 years and the Red Sox beat the host Mariners 4- 0 to salvage the final game of the series.

Sale ( 13- 4) was masterful, striking out 11, the 14th time this season he had at least 10 strikeouts in a game. Sale has struck out at least nine batters in each of his 12 road starts this season, the longest streak dating to 1913.

Nationals 8, Brewers 5

Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Lind each had two- run doubles in a seven- run eighth inning to help rally the host Nationals.

Bryce Harper was ejected for arguing with plate umpire Chris Segal after striking out in the eighth with runners on the corners. Harper’s single in the first extended his hitting streak to a career- high 18 games.

The Nationals will put right- hander Stephen Strasburg on the 10- day disabled list. Strasburg left Sunday’s start after two innings with pain in his forearm that doctors later diagnosed as a nerve impingement.

Marlins 22, Rangers 10

Marlins leadoff hitter Dee Gordon homered on the first pitch thrown by Yu Darvish, and the visiting Marlins set a franchise record for runs.

Marcell Ozuna’s three- run triple in the fourth made it 9- 2 to chase Darvish ( 6- 9). Giancarlo Stanton hit his major- league- leading 33rd home run in the eighth.

Adrian Beltre homered and had two doubles before he was ejected while waiting on deck to bat again in the eighth.

When second- base umpire and crew chief Gerry Davis motioned for Beltre to get closer to the on- deck circle, Beltre instead dragged the large plastic piece marking the circle closer to him.

Diamondbacks 10, Braves 3

J. D. Martinez homered twice and Ketel Marte hit an inside- the- park two- run homer for the host Diamondbacks. Martinez hit his second and third home runs in the last three days.

This and that

All- Star left- hander Dallas Keuchel is set to rejoin the Astros’ rotation Friday at the Tigers. Keuchel has not pitched since June 2 because of a neck injury.

The Phillies traded right- handed reliever Pat Neshek and cash to the Rockies for three minor- leaguers.
