Meet the new‘ Star Wars’ characters from ‘ Last Jedi’
Another Star Wars movie, another barrage of action figures and toys. However, what’s neat about the new merchandise that’s out for The Last Jedi ( in theaters Dec. 15)— Lego sets, drones, T- shirts and other collectibles flooded retailers over the weekend
BB- 9E
BB- 8 was one of the breakout stars of The Force Awakens thanks to utter cuteness, so the darkside version of the ball- shaped droid may follow suit. ( Director Rian Johnson tweeted that 9E’s on- screen nickname was BB- H8— as in “hate.”) If you want to take the badness home, Sphero has a version of the black-and- silver-tinged First Order BB you can control with your smartphone.
TALLIE
As anybody who has Wedge Antilles and Jek Porkins figures in their collection can tell you, Star Wars always has had a habit of making toys for pilots who have limited screen time. So we can probably assume that Tallie is an A- Wing pilot who’s probably not amajor character, but it’s still a good sign to see more women in Star Wars gear than not.
ELITE PRAETORIAN GUARD
Keeping with the bad guys, these red- armored, helmeted dudes are the security force for Supreme Leader Snoke ( played via motion capture by Andy Serkis), whom we saw as a hologram in
Force Awakens but appears in the flesh in Last Jedi. ( By the looks of this toy set, he might be throwing down with Daisy Ridley’s Rey.) Fans will note these Praetorian fellows have the same crimson color scheme as the Imperial Guard of the Emperor back in Return of the Jedi.
ROSE TICO
Kelly Marie Tran’s Resistance maintenance worker becomes a hero in The Last Jedi when she teams up for amission to go behind enemy lines with John Boyega’s Finn, and like any Star Wars good guy, she’s getting a cool action figure.
PAIGE TICO
Played by Veronica Ngo, Paige is Rose’s sister and a Resistance gunner and pilot who gets some coaching from none other than famous X- Wing flyboy Poe Dameron ( Oscar Isaac).
