DEATH OF WOMAN WHOSE BONES WERE FOUND IN CAR RULED HOMICIDE

Three months after skeletal remains were found in the back seat of an abandoned car in west suburban Forest Park, the unidentifi­ed woman’s death has been ruled a homicide.

About 7: 50 p. m. on June 28, authoritie­s were called to an alley in the 1000 block of Lathrop Avenue, according to Forest Park police.

A resident of the block rented a parking space to someone who abandoned his vehicle on the property, police said. The resident was going to clean out the car and have it towed off the property.

The resident broke the car window to get inside and saw a garbage can in the back seat, police said. He removed the garbage can and discovered remains inside.

An autopsy found that the death was a homicide by unspecifie­d means, probably asphyxia. Jordan Owen

Police: Man tried to kidnap 62-year- old woman in S. Loop

Police were looking for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 62- year- old woman Sunday night in the South Loop.

At 8: 01 p. m., the woman was in the 200 block of-West 19th Street when an unknown male, believed to be 20 years old, pulled up in a light- colored sedan and tried to pull her into the vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

The woman was able to fight off the man, who got back into his vehicle and drove away, police said. Sun- TimesWire

Man, 31, killed in I- 57 crash

A 31- year- old man was killed in a rollover crash early Sunday on Interstate 57 near the Washington Heights neighborho­od on the Far South Side. Christophe­r W. Watts, of south suburban Alsip, was killed in the single- vehicle, rollover crash that happened about 2: 30 a. m. on I- 57 near 105th Street, according to Illinois State Police. Sun- TimesWire
