2 charged with robbing teen at gunpoint in Naperville
Two men were charged Monday with robbing a teenage boy in August in west suburban Naperville.
About 1 a. m. Aug. 21, Jalen T. Martinez and Craig C. Garner used a handgun to steal a backpack and other items from a 14- year- old boy in the 600 block of South Route 59, according to Naperville police.
Officers spotted their vehicle in the 1200 block of Webster Road later that day, police said. A handgun was also recovered.
Martinez, 20, was arrested Sept. 11; and Garner, 19, was arrested Friday, police said.
Garner, a Chicago resident, was chargedwith one count of aggravated battery. Martinez, who lives in Naperville, was chargedwith aggravated fleeing and eluding for speeding and disobeying stoplights after the robbery, police said.
1 dead, 6wounded in Chicago shootings Monday
A rash of shootingsMonday afternoon continued into the evening, leaving a person dead and six others wounded across Chicago.
The shootings included a homicide about 2: 35 p. m. in a South Chicago neighborhood attack. The victim, a male between 16 and 18 years old, was shot in the head and chest in the 3000 block of East 80th Street, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3: 15 p. m., police said.

A 22- year- old man was shot in the right forearm, shoulder and back in the 1700 block ofWest Estes in the Rogers Park neighborhood at 8: 15 p. m., police said.
An 18- year- old man was shot in the right thigh in the 3800 block of South Roosevelt in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.
A 69- year- old man was shot in the left ankle in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting at 7: 02 p. m. The man was walking near 4111W. Madison when someone ran past him firing shots, police said.
Two men were wounded in a drive- by shooting in the 3600 block ofWest Douglas in the North Lawndale neighborhood on theWest Side. A 33- yearold man was shot multiple times, and a 31- year- old man was shot in the left leg when someone opened fire from a passing white- colored sedan, according to police.
A 23- year- old man was shot in the leg and arm in the 900 block of North Hamlin in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side just after noon, police said.
