Rangers hot in OT, take Winter Classic

J. T. Miller scored a powerplay goal 2: 43 into overtime to lift the Rangers to a 3- 2 victory over the Sabres on Monday in the NHL’s 10th Winter Classic at Citi Field in New York. Paul Carey and Michael Grabner scored in the first period for the Rangers, who improved to 4- 0 in regularsea­son outdoor games. Henrik Lundqvist, who has been in goal for all four of the wins, stopped 31 shots. Rasmus Ristolaine­n and Sam Reinhart scored for the Sabres.

The game, played at the home of the New York Mets, was on the 10th anniversar­y of the Sabres’ 2- 1 shootout loss to the Penguins in Buffalo in the first Winter Classic.

† T. J. Tynan helped set up the Wolves’ two goals — by Tobias Lindberg and Mackenzie MacEachern — in the first period as the team stretched its point streak to 11 games with a 2- 1 victory over the Iowa Wild in Des Moines. Max Lagace made 25 saves in his eighth victory for the Wolves ( 15- 12- 5- 2).

NBA No Harden for Bulls

James Harden, the NBA’s leading scorer, will miss at least two weeks with a strained left hamstring, including a game against the Bulls next Monday. Harden was injured in a win against the Lakers on Sunday night.

† DeMar DeRozan had a franchise- record 52 points, and the Raptors beat the Bucks 131- 127 in overtime to match the team record with their 12th straight home win.

† Isaiah Thomas, sidelined with a hip injury since last season’s Eastern Conference finals, will make his debut for the Cavaliers on Tuesday against the Trail Blazers.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL Mountainee­rs make it 13

Teddy Allen scored 22 points, Lamont West added 19 and No. 6 West Virginia ( 13- 1, 2- 0) beat host Kansas State 77- 69, pushing their winning streak to 13 games.
