Illini remain winless on road

Mark Alstork finished with a season- high 19 points, but Illinois lost to No. 17 Ohio State on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.

The loss snapped a two- game winning streak for the Illini ( 12- 12, 2- 9 Big Ten), who have yet to win a game on the road this season.

Illinois jumped out to a 30- 15 lead halfway through the first half but went scoreless in the final 10 minutes and trailed Ohio State 34- 30 at halftime.

Freshman Trent Frazier scored all 12 of his points in the second half to lead the Illini back to a 63- 60 lead with 5: 20 left before the Buckeyes finished on a 15- 4 run to win.

Keita Bates- Diop scored a careerhigh 35 points and had 13 rebounds for the Buckeyes ( 20- 5, 11- 1), who have won three straight and 10 of their last 11.

UIC 78, Detroit 69

The Flames overcame a sluggish start to win their sixth consecutiv­e game and sixth in a row on the road.

Dikembe Dixson led the Flames ( 14- 11, 9- 3 Horizon League) with 23 points on 7- for- 11 shooting. Tarkus Ferguson had a double- double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

UIC held the Titans ( 7- 18, 3- 9) to nine field goals on 27.3 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.

Maryland 68, Wisconsin 63

Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 23 points, and Kevin Huerter added 19 for the host Terrapins.

The Badgers ( 10- 15, 3- 9 Big Ten) suffered their fifth straight loss. The defeat also ended Wisconsin’s Big Ten- record run of 17 straight winning seasons in conference play.

The Terrapins ( 16- 9, 5- 7) ended a three- game skid and won for only the second time in seven games.

Villanova 92, SetonHall 76

Omari Spellman had 26 points and 11 rebounds, helping the No. 1 Wildcats win their ninth straight game.

Mikal Bridges, who scored 17 points, hit a three with 2: 22 left for a 21- point lead for the hostWildca­ts.

For about 25 minutes, the Pirates ( 17- 6, 6- 4 Big East) gave the Wildcats ( 22- 1, 9- 1) all they could handle.
