Agent: Brady will play in ’ 18, beyond
Despite some uncertainty in the Patriots’ organization, the agent for quarterback Tom Brady said he expects his client to return for the 2018 season.
‘‘ Tom’s intentions have not changed,’’ agent Don Yee said Monday. ‘‘ He’s consistently said he’ll play beyond this contract and into his mid- 40s or until he feels he isn’t playing at a championship level. I understand the constant speculation, but this is one point he’s been firm about.’’
Multiple sources said last week they thought — but didn’t know — that Brady, 40, would return for the 2018 season. That’s why it had become a question in the organization in recent weeks whether Brady would walk away. Yee, though, tried to dispel the notion.
‘‘ He customizes his preparation to each season in order to maximize his performance,’’ Yee said. ‘‘ His training methods are always evolving and getting better. The year he missed the first four games [ for the Deflategate suspension], that month of training on his own was particularly efficient.’’
Asked how Brady feels about his contract, which will pay him well less than what former understudy Jimmy Garoppolo will make with the 49ers, Yee said: ‘‘ His objective every year is to outperform his contract and his own goals.”
49ers await word on LB Foster
General manager John Lynch said the 49ers will be patient through linebacker Reuben Foster’s legal issues in a domesticviolence case but stressed Foster won’t remain on the team if the 49ers determine he hit a woman.
Lynch spoke publicly for the first time since Foster was charged with felony domestic violence April 12 after being accused of dragging his girlfriend and punching her in the head, leaving her with a ruptured eardrum.
‘‘ We do feel like patience is the right approach right now,’’ Lynch said. ‘‘ We’re going to learn things through this legal process. I do want to be very clear — abundantly clear— that if these charges are proven true, if Reuben indeed hit this young lady, he won’t be a part of our organization going forward.’’
Raiders sign CB Worley
The Raiders signed cornerback Daryl Worley just more than a week after he was released by the Eagles in the wake of an arrest.
Worley was let go by the Eagles on April 15 after being arrested near their practice facility. Police used a Taser on him after he became combative, and NFL Network reported a gun was found in his vehicle.
The Eagles had acquired Worley earlier in the offseason from the Panthers in a trade for receiver Torrey Smith.
Saints WR likely to join Ravens
Multiple reports said the Saints are unlikely tomatch the two- year, $ 10.4 million offer the Ravens made to restricted free- agent receiver Willie Snead, leaving him free to sign with his new team.
