Age 96, adored son of the late Samuel and the late Mary Elbaum; beloved husband of the late Jeanette Elbaum, happily married for 55 years; loving father of Sherry ( David) Klinkner and Terri ( Scott) Ludwig; cherished Grandpa of Jamison ( Suzanne) Klinkner and Robin Klinkner; doting greatgrand­father of Willa Isidore Klinkner. Ed is survived by many nieces, nephews and close family friend Joyce Jennings. Preceded in death by his dear sister Esther Walner. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Agrace HospiceCar­e in Fitchburg, WI for their compassion and care. Ed was born in Bronx, New York on November 18, 1921 and grew up in Chicago. He was a proud WWII veteran, having served in the Navy, stationed in the Philippine­s. He earned a teaching degree at Roosevelt College. For over 35 years, Ed was a teacher and guidance counselor at Marshall High School in Chicago. Ed made friends wherever he went. He was loved for his humor, quick wit, kindness and open mindedness. He was passionate about books and was committed to being a lifelong learner. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Chapel services Thursday, July 5, 2018, 10: 00 a. m. at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment will follow at Shalom Memorial Park.
