Rams great Robert­son dies in limo wreck

Six-time Pro Bowl line­backer Isiah Robert­son, 69, who starred for the Rams from 1971 to 1978 and later played with the Bills, was killed Thurs­day night when the limou­sine he was driv­ing skid­ded on a rain-slicked curve on a dark, ru­ral high­way about 50 miles south­east of Dal­las and was hit by two other ve­hi­cles.

♦ Jets line­backer Dar­ron Lee, the team’s sec­ondlead­ing tack­ler, has been sus­pended for the fi­nal four games by the NFL for vi­o­lat­ing its sub­stance-abuse pol­icy. Lee, 24, was hav­ing his best sea­son since be­ing drafted 20th over­all in 2016 out of Ohio State.

♦ Alex Mor­gan has been named U.S. Soc­cer’s Player of the Year for a sec­ond time af­ter lead­ing the na­tional team with 18 goals in 19 games and help­ing it earn a spot in the World Cup next year in France. The U.S. women’s team, ranked No. 1 in the world, went un­de­feated in 2018 with 19 wins and two ties. The draw for the World Cup is set for Satur­day in Paris. The U.S. is the de­fend­ing cham­pion, hav­ing won in Canada in 2015.
