Man fatally shot during argument over garbage

A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon during an argument in the South Chicago neighborho­od.

At 12:30 p.m., 55-year-old Anthony J. Adams was arguing with a man over garbage in a hallway in the 7900 block of South Kingston Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man retrieved a handgun from his apartment and shot Adams in the head, authoritie­s said. He was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later. Police said charges were pending. Adams lived in the South Side Roseland neighborho­od, the medical examiner’s office said.
