Man fatally shot during argument over garbage

A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon during an argument in the South Chicago neighborhood.

At 12:30 p.m., 55-year-old Anthony J. Adams was arguing with a man over garbage in a hallway in the 7900 block of South Kingston Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man retrieved a handgun from his apartment and shot Adams in the head, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later. Police said charges were pending. Adams lived in the South Side Roseland neighborhood, the medical examiner’s office said.
