Report: Teams eyeing Hunt

-

Days after Matt Nagy refused to rule out the Bears’ interest in free agent Kareem Hunt, ESPN reported Sunday that multiple teams are interested in the troubled running back and that he’d land a job “sooner rather than later,” according to a league source.

ESPN also reported that Hunt has been undergoing anger-management counseling daily since November. NFL.com, meanwhile, reported that the NFL’s investigation into three incidents involving Hunt is expected to conclude before free agency begins in March.

The incidents involve a video that surfaced showing Hunt knocking over and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel in February, an alleged altercation at a different club and an incident in which Hunt allegedly punched a man at a resort. The league has bundled those three incidents into one case.

Hunt faces potential discipline as the league continues its investigation. He was released by the Chiefs on Nov. 30 after the video surfaced and is on the commissioner’s exempt list, so he would need to be reinstated before he could sign with a team.

ESPN reported that Hunt appears to be making progress with the counseling.

“As we go into that, there’s a lot of things off the field that he’s got to take care of,” Bears GM Ryan Pace said last week. “Matt knows Kareem. I don’t know Kareem, but those things are all going to have to play out.”

Nagy worked with Hunt in Kansas City and talked to him about a week ago.

Mahomes: $200M man?

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will be eligible for an extension after the 2020 season, and ESPN is reporting that he could be the first player to land a $200 million deal, far more than Aaron Rodgers’ record four-year, $134 million extension signed last August.

Brown: Thanks, but not goodbye

Wide receiver Antonio Brown thanked Steelers fans in an Instagram post Saturday. Brown, who many assume will be traded after some behavior that irritated the team, closed the post with ‘‘this is not a goodbye, just a thank u.’’
