Attorney: Kaepernick still wants to play

The attorney for former 49ers quarterbac­k Colin Kaepernick said in an interview with CNN that Kaepernick still ‘‘absolutely wants to play’’ in the NFL and projected the Panthers and Patriots as two of the best landing spots for him.

♦ The Dolphins hired former Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie as a senior personnel executive. The Raiders fired him in December after he clashed with coach Jon Gruden.

♦ J.B. Holmes closed with a 1-under-par 70 to earn a one-stroke victory over third-round leader Justin Thomas, who ended with a 4-over 75, in the Genesis Open in Los Angeles. Holmes completed 72 holes at 14-under 270.

♦ Erik Brannstrom scored 3:35 into overtime to lift the Wolves to a 2-1 victory against the Wild in American Hockey League action at Allstate Arena. Max Lagace made 31 saves for the Wolves (28-17-5-1).
