Brewers improve to 5-1

Orlando Arcia hit a tiebreakin­g three-run home run in the sixth inning, and the visiting Brewers continued their strong play early in the season with a 4-3 victory Tuesday against the Reds.

Arcia smacked his homer to right field against reliever Michael Lorenzen to give the Brewers a 4-1 lead, and winning pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (2-0) and three relievers made it stand up from there. The reigning National League Central champion Brewers have won five of their first six games.

Braves, Acuna strike $100M deal

The Braves agreed to terms with 21-year-old outfielder Ronald Acuna, who was the NL Rookie of the Year last season, on an eight-year, $100 million contract with two team options that could raise the value of the deal to $124 million over 10 years.

The contract is the largest in major-league history for a player under club control with less than one year of big-league service, and Acuna became the youngest player in history with a $100 million deal.

Indians’ Lindor to miss more time

The Indians said shortstop Francisco Lindor will miss more time because of a sprained left ankle that has delayed his season debut.

Lindor was making a steady recovery from a strained right calf when he injured his ankle running the bases during a minor-league scrimmage last week in Arizona.

Rockies’ Murphy out for month

Rockies manager Bud Black said first baseman Daniel Murphy will be out for at least a month with a fracture in the tip of his left index finger suffered while diving for a grounder Friday against the Marlins. Murphy went on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Blue Jays make outfield moves

The Blue Jays signed outfielder Randal Grichuk to a five-year, $52 million contract extension and traded outfielder Kevin Pillar to the Giants for infielder Alen Hanson, righthande­r Derek Law and minor-league pitcher Juan De Paula.
