Brewers hold on to beat Braves
Josh Hader struck out Ozzie Albies with two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth inning to preserve the Brewers’ 5-4 win over the Braves on Wednesday in Milwaukee.
Christian Yelich hit his 34th homer of the season to tie the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger for the major-league lead. It was Yelich’s third home run in four games.
The Braves rallied with two runs in the eighth on Josh Donaldson’s two-run homer and two runs in the ninth on his two-run single.

Paul Goldschmidt hit a go-ahead, three-run homer off Michael Feliz in the seventh inning, and the Cardinals dealt the Pirates their fifth loss in six games with a 6-5 victory.
♦ The A’s matched their season high with six home runs, despite losing Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman to an ankle injury after two innings, in a 10-2 victory over the Mariners.
♦ Albert Pujols hit a bases-clearing double in a six-run first inning, and the Angels remained unbeaten in five games since the All-Star break with a 7-2 victory over the Astros.
♦ Donovan Solano had four hits, including a tiebreaking home run leading off the sixth inning, and the Giants beat the Rockies 11-8 to complete a fourgame sweep, their first in Colorado in nearly eight years.
Phillies’ Neris, Angels’ Ramirez get 3-game bans
Phillies closer Hector Neris was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for intentionally throwing a pitch in the area of the head of Dodgers first baseman David Freese in the ninth inning Tuesday.
MLB also suspended Angels reliever Noe Ramirez for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for throwing a pitch Tuesday near the head of Astros center fielder Jake Marisnick in the sixth inning. Angels manager Brad Ausmus was hit with a one-game suspension and fined an undisclosed amount because of the incident.
