Packers alter return game by trading Davis to Raiders
The Packers traded receiver Trevor Davis to the Raiders, reportedly for a sixth-round draft pick, according to the Oakland Tribune.
On Monday, the Packers picked up kickreturn specialist Tremon Smith off waivers from the Chiefs. Smith finished fourth in the NFL in kick returning last season with an average of 26.9 yards.
As a receiver, Davis never quite found a role in the Packers’ offense. In three-plus seasons, he played 216 snaps and caught nine passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Davis averaged 22.6 yards per kickoff return and 11.2 per punt return in his career for the Packers. This season, he had one catch for 28 yards against the Bears and three punt returns for one yard with seven fair catches.
AB won’t be prosecuted due to statute
Pittsburgh-area law enforcement looked into an allegation that Antonio Brown committed a sexual assault in June 2017, but authorities won’t prosecute him because of the expiration of the statute of limitations.
A detective contacted Britney Taylor’s lawyer after her lawsuit against Brown became public last week, a source told ESPN, but since the allegation that Brown exposed himself and kissed her without consent is more than two years old, there won’t be an investigation.
Cowboys cut ties with ’17 first-round pick
The Cowboys waived defensive end Taco Charlton, who didn’t live up to his billing as a 2017 first-round pick.
With the roster exemption for Robert Quinn’s return expiring Wednesday, the Cowboys opted to cut ties with Charlton despite being on the hook for more than $1.8 million in guaranteed base salary over the next two years.
Marrone: Ramsey will play vs. Titans
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who has asked the team to trade him, will play Thursday night against the Titans, coach Doug Marrone said.
Marrone said he spoke with Ramsey, and there are no lingering issues regarding their sideline shouting match in Sunday’s game. Marrone didn’t have anything to say about Ramsey’s trade request.
