Sky open 2020 at home

After a heartbreak­ing loss in the second round of the WNBA playoffs last September, the Sky made their intentions for the upcoming season clear.

“We go up,” coach James Wade said. “We gonna kick everybody’s a-- next year.”

That statement will be put to the test after the team unveiled its 2020 schedule on Thursday. It will kick off its 15th season on May 15 by hosting the Minnesota Lynx.

The Sky will face each team three times with the exception of the Dream, Fever and Sun, whom they will play four times (twice at home and two times on the road). They will get their trio of games against the defending WNBA champion Mystics out of the way early, playing all three in June.

Loyola rolls past Southern Illinois

Marquise Kennedy had 17 points off the bench to lead Loyola to a 64-48 win over Southern Illinois on Thursday night at Gentile Arena.

Tate Hall had 16 points for the Ramblers (12-6, 4-1 MVC), who have won four of their last five games.

LSU DC Aranda new Baylor coach

Baylor named LSU defensive coordinato­r Dave Aranda its next head coach. Aranda, 43, who will be a head coach for the first time, spent the last four seasons with the Tigers and helped them win the national championsh­ip against Clemson.

Arrest warrant issued for Beckham

Police in New Orleans issued a misdemeano­r simple battery warrant for Browns receiver and former LSU star Odell Beckham Jr. after video posted on social media appeared to show Beckham swatting a security officer’s backside during LSU’s locker room celebratio­n after the national-title game.

♦ Agent Drew Rosenhaus conditiona­lly terminated his relationsh­ip with Antonio Brown until the free-agent receiver seeks counseling, an NFLPA source told ESPN.

♦ Niners general manager John Lynch won the Pro Football Writers of America Executive of the Year award.

Ingram scores 49 in Pelicans’ win

Brandon Ingram scored a career-high 49 points, and the Pelicans stopped the Jazz’s 10-game win streak with a 138-132 victory in overtime. Jazz star Donovan Mitchell tied his career-high with 46 points.

♦ Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 32 points and 17 rebounds, and the Bucks held off the Celtics 128-123 to extend their winning streak to five games. Kemba Walker scored a game-high 40 points to lead the Celtics.

♦ The Timberwolv­es traded veteran point guard Jeff Teague to the Hawks, along with shooting guard Treveon Graham in a three-player swap of backups that sent shooting guard Allen Crabbe to the Timberwolv­es.
