former cowboys coach garrett joins giants as oc

-

Jason Garrett is headed to the other side of the Giants-Cowboys rivalry after agreeing to become the Giants’ new offensive coordinator.

The 53-year-old Garrett has ties to the Giants organization, having played there from 2000 to 2003. He remains well-respected within the organization after posting a 13-6 record against them as the Cowboys’ coach.

Garrett’s experience as a head coach could serve as an asset to Joe Judge, who has never been a head coach at any level.

Garrett will bring to New York a timingbased offense that has worked well with young quarterbacks in the past. He had immediate success with Tony Romo early in his career and was a key figure in the development of Dak Prescott. He will be tasked with helping develop quarterback Daniel Jones, who showed lots of promise in his rookie season after taking over for Eli Manning.
