RED STARS’ SEASON DELAYED
The National Women’s Soccer League is delaying the start of its season because of the coronavirus pandemic, announcing Friday that it’s imposing a moratorium on training through April 5, which means games will not start as planned. The Red Stars were scheduled to open April 18 against the host North Carolina Courage in a rematch of last season’s NWSL Championship. The league already had canceled its preseason matches.
“We are considering all possible implications for the preseason and regular-season schedules while prioritizing the health and safety of our players, staff and fans,” the league said in a statement.
