Michigan rolls to Big Ten title
Franz Wagner scored 19 points, Hunter Dickinson added 14 and No. 2 Michigan wrapped up the Big Ten title with a 69-50 victory over rival Michigan State on Thursday night in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Wolverines (19-2, 14-2) went on a 9-2 run to take a 3928 lead into halftime. They later went on a 25-4 tear that spanned much of the second half.
Aaron Henry scored 14 points to lead the Spartans (14-11, 8-11), who will finish with a losing conference record for the first time since 1993.
◆ Dusan Mahorcic had 15 points and seven rebounds but committed seven turnovers in Illinois State’s 65-60 loss to Northern Iowa in the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in St. Louis.
◆ Creighton suspended coach Greg McDermott indefinitely for using racially insensitive language while addressing the team after a game last weekend. McDermott has publicly apologized for urging his players to “stay on the plantation” after the 14th-ranked Bluejays’ 77-69 loss at Xavier.
◆ Former LSU football coach Les Miles was accused of inappropriate behavior toward female students, according to a 2013 internal investigation released by LSU. The investigation did not find that Miles had sexual relationships with any of the women.
