With the exception of Yasmani Grandal, who is still out with a sore knee, the White Sox (1-5-3) threw their best lineup at the Dodgers and managed three hits: a double by Andrew Vaughn in the fifth inning and singles by Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez in the seventh — and final — inning.

The Sox were dominant against left-handers last season, but Julio Urias (three perfect innings) and David Price (one) were perfect at the outset.

Keystone cops

Center fielder Luis Robert collided with left fielder Jimenez on a routine fly that was easily in Jimenez’s range but was caught by Robert. Jimenez dropped to the turf for several seconds. The always jovial Jimenez played possum and came up smiling, but unnecessary contact involving two prized talents left no one grinning in the Sox’ dugout.

Robert was very aggressive as a rookie, which is his duty as the center fielder and what the coaching staff wants to see. But allowing Jimenez to catch routine flies probably wouldn’t hurt. Spring training would be a good time to get it ironed out before another such mix-up results in an injury.

Mixed bag

Shortstop Tim Anderson made a leaping, well-timed catch of a soft liner to end a rocky inning for Zack Burdi, who walked three and allowed a three-run home run to Corey Seager. Anderson also made a high, off-balance throw while trying to make a great play for his second error of the spring.

On deck

Padres at Sox, 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Glendale, MLB.TV, Blake Snell vs. Lance Lynn.

Michael Kopech will make his first appearance in a Sox uniform since August 2018 (before his Tommy John surgery). Liam Hendriks and Garrett Crochet also are slated to pitch. Dallas Keuchel, who has not appeared in a Cactus League game yet, will throw on the side.
