Florek, Joan Mary

Joan Mary Florek (nee Schneider), age 86, passedaway peacefully at home on May 7, 2021 in Kingwood, Texas. Joan was born on September 16, 1934 in Chicago, IL to William and Rosella Schneider. She was married to Edward Florek on January 18, 1962 who preceded her in death (2010). She was a graduate of Fenger High School and later worked as a travel agent while traveling extensively with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook, an excellent pinochle player, and enjoyed playing golf. After growing up in Chicago, Joan raised her family in Beecher, Illinois. She also resided in Crown Point, Indiana, and most recently in Kingwood, Texas. She was blessed with long-term friendships and an extended family. Her father, mother, brother (William), and sister (Arlene) preceded her death. She is survived by her sister Janice Buchthal (David) of Duvall, Washington. Also surviving are her daughters Cheryl Rossler, Karyn Florek Brown (David), and Laura DioGuardi Martin (Jeffrey). She was a loving grandmother to William Kuhn (Grace), Lauren Bruce (Daniel), Daniel Kuhn (Joan), Laura Michele Brown, Joseph DioGuardi, Kathryn Riordan (Connor), Alyson Owens (Hudley), and Connor Martin. Doting great grandmother to Paige, Olivia, Beckett, and Landon. More than anything, Joan loved her family. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great grandmother.
