Red Stars rally to earn draw vs. Louisville

-

Kealia Watt scored in the 57th minute and the Red Stars settled for a 1-1 draw with host Racing Louisville FC on Wednesday night at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.

Though the match counts as a draw in the National Women’s Soccer League, the teams went to penalty kicks to determine who would advance to the final of The Women’s Cup; Louisville prevailed 5-4.

A goal by Ebony Salmon in the 10th minute gave Louisville the lead, but Watt tied it after a Michelle Betos save. Watt had a team-high six shots.

Morgan Gautrat returned to the Red Stars lineup after missing one game because of injury.

The Red Stars will play Paris St. Germain at 2 p.m. Saturday in Louisville for third place in The Women’s Cup. Paris St. Germain lost to FC Bayern on penalty kicks in the other semifinal.

NBA Bulls sign Dosunmu, Simonovic

The Bulls signed two rookies, guard Ayo Dosunmu and center Marko Simonovic, the team announced. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Dosunmu, a former Morgan Park and Illinois star, was the 38th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. Simonovic was the 44th overall selection in the 2020 draft and played overseas last season.
