Young’s 42 help Hawks end skid

Trae Young scored a season-best 42 points and the Hawks snapped a six-game losing streak, beating the Bucks 120-100 on Sunday night in Atlanta. Young just missed a triple-double, finishing with 10 assists and eight rebounds to push the Hawks to a much-needed victory after losing eight of their last nine games.

“We all know where we want to be at,” Young said. “We know we’ve got to turn it around and get some wins.”

It was Young’s 17th 40-point game in his career, tying him with Kevin Durant and LeBron James for third-most in a player’s first four seasons. Only Michael Jordan (62) and Shaquille O’Neal (21) had more.

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo, who missed one game with a sprained right ankle, scored 26 points to lead the Bucks, who have lost seven of their last 10.

♦ Devin Booker had 26 points and six assists and the visiting Suns won their eighth consecutiv­e game with a 115-89 victory against the Rockets, who have lost 11 consecutiv­e games.

♦ Anthony Davis had 34 points and 15 rebounds to help the Lakers beat the visiting Spurs 114-106.

HOCKEY Wolves fall in overtime

Rookie center Semyon Der-Arguchints­ev scored with 1.3 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Toronto Marlies a 2-1 victory against the Wolves at Allstate Arena. Forward Maxim Letunov scored and goaltender Eeti Makiniemi had 25 saves for the Wolves (7-3-1-0).

♦ Penguins star Sidney Crosby returned from the COVID-19 protocol, but the visiting Penguins lost 6-1 to the Capitals.

MISCELLANE­OUS Kokrak wins in Houston

Jason Kokrak shot a final-round 5-under 65 to win the Houston Open. His total — 10-under 270 — was two strokes ahead of Kevin Tway and Scottie Scheffler. It was his third win in the last 13 months. Kokrak was 10 strokes back after 36 holes.

♦ Phil Mickelson birdied three of the final seven holes to win the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championsh­ip in Phoenix, and Bernhard Langer held on to win his sixth PGA Tour Champions season points title.

♦ Despite starting 10th, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo. He remains 14 points behind runner-up Max Verstappen in the Formula One points standings.

♦ Serbia stunned Portugal 2-1 to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Spain beat Sweden 1-0 to earn its 12th consecutiv­e Cup berth, and Croatia topped Russia 1-0 to earn a berth.
