Saints’ Hill to make first start at QB this season
Taysom Hill will make his first start at quarterback this season for the Saints on Thursday night, a source told ESPN.
Hill, who’s dealing with a partially torn plantar fascia that has limited him since Week 10, has been a full participant in practice this week.
Hill, 31, replaces Trevor Siemian, who went 0-4 after he earned a victory in relief of injured starter Jameis Winston in Week 8 against the Buccaneers.
Hill went 3-1 as a starter last season while Drew Brees was injured, but he has yet to be the primary quarterback for the Saints this season, instead subbing in as a readoption threat or as a receiver.
Also, running back Alvin Kamara and offensive tackles Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk are all listed as questionable with knee injuries. Kamara has practiced on a limited basis all week.
Backup running back Mark Ingram is ready to go after missing last Thursday’s game against the Bills with a knee injury.
Cooper, Lamb expected to play
Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper is expected to play against the Saints, a source told ESPN. Cooper, who missed the last two games while on the reserve/COVID-19 list, was activated Wednesday and is listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game.
Fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb is also expected to return after missing last Thursday’s game against the Raiders because of a concussion.
Bucs WR Brown still out
Buccaneers receiver Antonio Brown is expected to miss at least two more weeks, a source told ESPN. Brown has been out since suffering an ankle injury in Week 6 at the Eagles, but coach Bruce Arians said the wide receiver is actually dealing with a different injury than initially thought.
Jones wants to give it a go
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is ‘preparing to play’ to play against the Dolphins despite a neck injury.
Jones, who suffered a neck strain in the win over the Eagles, is keeping open the possibility of being ready by the weekend.
Seahawks sign Peterson
Desperate for depth at running back, the Seahawks signed 36-yearold Adrian Peterson to their practice squad.
Peterson appeared in three games earlier this season for the Titans following a season-ending injury suffered by Derrick Henry. He started two games and had 27 carries for 82 yards and a 3.0-yard average per rushing attempt and one touchdown run.
Texans cancel practice
The Texans canceled practice and all other in-person activities Wednesday on the advice of their medical team because some players weren’t feeling well.
Coach David Culley said they have not had any positive COVID-19 tests.
