Kogen, Maureen McGee

-

Maureen McGee Kogen, 54, of Northbrook, IL, passed away on May 2nd following an incredibly brave and graceful fight against metastatic breast cancer. Maureen was a force. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, class, love, laughter and friendship. She accomplished a lot. She was grateful to have lived a very full life with a family and friends whom she loved deeply, a career she was very proud of, opportunities to give back to her community in immeasurable ways, and many chances to have a hell of a lot of fun. Maureen loved to travel, had a soft spot for Vegas, never met a golf course she didn’t like (well, maybe) and loved fashion and entertaining. She had an eye for the finest of details and was the consummate hostess. She remained tight with her friends from her earliest years and grew friendship circles in every new chapter of her life. Maureen was the friend everyone wanted to have…loyal, protective, smart, funny and always up for the next adventure. At the center of Maureen’s life and heart were her husband of 27 incredible years, Rob Kogen, and their three thoughtful, kind and fiercely loved children – Kelly (22), Max (21) and Sam (18). Maureen’s indelible spirit shines brightly in each of her beautiful children. Maureen was born May 10, 1967 in Chicago, IL as the beloved daughter of Eddie and Joan McGee (Chicago, IL).

After graduating from Resurrection High School (’85), Maureen attended Loyola University Chicago and graduated with a Finance degree in 1989. She graduated from DePaul University College of Law in

1992 and joined the Cook County State’s Attorney

Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney. Maureen dedicated 27 years to serving the people of Cook

County where she zealously prosecuted cases in the circuit and appellate courts and was unwavering in her commitment to secure justice for crime victims. In 2008, Maureen was one of six Moms who came together on a mission – to ensure children with intellectual/developmental disabilities have the resources and support they need to pursue their own hopes and dreams – and TotalLink2 Community was formed. Today, TotalLink helps clients thrive by working, socializing and contributing to their communities, and making their workplaces and communities better for it. Maureen’s vision and unwavering commitment to the cause has benefited countless young adults, their families, and communities. Maureen was the big sister of Bobby (Andrea) and sister-in-law of Scott Kogen (Lauren). She was the loving aunt to Karly and Olivia McGee and Alex and Zachary Kogen, and daughter-in-law of Joseph and Beryl Kogen (Boca Raton, FL). A visitation will be held for Maureen Thursday, May 5, 2022, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, IL 60077.
