Heat top 76ers in opener

Tyler Herro scored 25 points, Bam Adebayo added 24 points and 12 rebounds and the Heat dominated the second half to earn a 106-92 victory Monday against the visiting 76ers in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

The 76ers played without center Joel Embiid, who suffered a fractured orbital bone around his right eye and a mild concussion in their series-clinching victory last week against the Raptors. He is expected to miss Game 2 on Wednesday in Miami, too, but might return for Game 3 in Philadelph­ia.

Tobias Harris scored 27 points to lead the 76ers, who led 51-50 at halftime but were outscored 56-41 in the second half.

NFL WR Hopkins banned 6 games for PEDs

The NFL suspended Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins, a three-time AllPro and a five-time Pro Bowl selection, for the first six regular-season games without pay for violating its policy on performanc­e-enhancing substances.

Hopkins played in 10 games last season, catching 42 passes for 572 yards and eight touchdowns. He missed much of the second half of the season, including the Cardinals’ playoff loss to the Rams, because of hamstring and knee injuries.

†The NFL announced its investigat­ion found ‘‘no evidence’’ the Browns purposely lost games or offered anyone incentives to do so after former coach Hue Jackson alleged in February the team tried to lose in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Jackson went 3-36-1 in two-plus seasons as the Browns’ coach before he was fired eight games into the 2018 season.

† ESPN reported the Saints and freeagent safety Tyrann Mathieu agreed to terms on a three-year, $33 million contract.

STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS Maple Leafs blank Lightning in Game 1

Auston Matthews had two goals and an assist, Jack Campbell stopped all 23 shots he faced and the host Maple Leafs shut out the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning 5-0 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

† David Perron scored two power-play goals and added an assist, Ville Husso made 37 saves and the visiting Blues coasted to a 4-0 victory against the Wild in the opener of their first-round playoff series.

† Seth Jarvis and Vincent Trochek each had a goal and an assist, Antti Raanta made 35 saves and the host Hurricanes drubbed the Bruins 5-1 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

MISCELLANE­OUS Elliott wins rain-delayed NASCAR race

Chase Elliott led the final 53 laps on his way to capturing the rain-delayed NASCAR Cup Series race in Dover, Delaware. The first 78 of the 400 laps were run Sunday before the rain came.

†Lambeau Field, the home of the Packers, will host a soccer game for the first time in its 65-year history when European powers Bayern Munich and Manchester City play an exhibition July 23.

† Zandon was named the 3-1 morninglin­e favorite and drew the No. 10 post in the 20-horse field for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday in Louisville.
