Woman critical after hit-run in Lawndale; 2 hurt in River North crash on Ontario

A woman was in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Monday in Lawndale on the West Side.

The woman, 28, was struck by a white SUV around 1:45 a.m. while standing on the street in the 4700 block of West Arthington Street, Chicago police said. The driver of the SUV continued without stopping.

Paramedics took the woman to Stroger Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

Later in the morning, two women were seriously hurt in a one-car crash in River North.

One of the women lost control of her SUV around 5:30 a.m. and struck a light pole in the 300 block of West Ontario Street, Chicago police said.

The vehicle then crashed into a commercial building, police said. Two women were taken to Northweste­rn Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
