Jokic named NBA MVP again

Nuggets center Nikola Jokic reportedly won his second consecutiv­e Most Valuable Player award after a season in which he finished with numbers never before seen in league history

Jokic, 27, became the first player in NBA history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a season.

He is the 15th player in NBA history to win the MVP multiple times and the second straight winner to go back-to-back after the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokoun­mpo won it in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Antetokoun­mpo was a finalist for this year’s award, along with 76ers center Joel Embiid, who led the league in scoring average.

† Monty Williams reportedly was named NBA Coach of the Year after leading the Suns to a franchise-record 64 wins during the regular season. He beat out the Grizzlies’ Taylor Jenkins and the Heat’s Eric Spoelstra.

† Al Horford and Jayson Tatum scored 30 points apiece and led the Celtics’ fourth-quarter comeback in a 116-108 victory over the host Bucks that tied their Eastern Conference semifinal at two games apiece.

† Warriors coach Steve Kerr tested positive for COVID-19 and was replaced by associate head coach Mike Brown in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Grizzlies.

Penguins topple Rangers for 3-1 series lead

Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists to become the sixth player in NHL history to reach 200 career playoff points and the host Penguins throttled the Rangers 7-2 to take a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series.

† Sam Reinhart tied it late in regulation, Carter Verhaeghe scored his second goal of the game in overtime and the Panthers beat the host Capitals 3-2 in Game 4, tying the first-round series.

† The Islanders fired coach Barry Trotz after missing the playoffs for the first time in his four seasons.
