Crosby suffers injury in Penguins’ loss

Penguins star Sidney Crosby left with about seven minutes remaining in the second period with an upper body injury in a 5-3 loss in Game 5 of the first-round playoff series against the host Rangers. Following his departure, the Rangers scored three times on three consecutiv­e shots over a 2:42 span to take the lead and stave off eliminatio­n.

♦ Carter Verhaeghe set a Panthers postseason record with a five-point night, and host Florida escaped a three-goal deficit to beat the Capitals 5-3 and take a 3-2 lead in the first-round series. Verhaeghe had two goals and three assists for the Panthers, who trailed 3-0 in the second period.
